This is similar to Elon Musk's Twitter Blue subscription membership. Perhaps Zuckerberg feels that his metaverse can no longer be hyped, so he wants to follow Musk's example and introduce blue tick certification to make more money.

Meta Verified will cost $11.99 per month on the web, or $14.99 per month if users sign up via in-app purchases on iOS. This service will first be launched in New Zealand and Australia. Considering that Meta has a large user base, it should not be difficult for Zuckerberg to profit from this.

As for Zuckerberg's metaverse, there has been little news recently. When the metaverse was popular last year, many companies in China followed suit. However, it is rumored that Tencent has recently disbanded its entire XR department, and other companies are likely to do the same. This is similar to the situation when ChatGPT became popular and many companies claimed to have similar products ready to launch, but it turned out to be a mess in the end.
