Apple Releases iOS 18.3 Beta 2, Fixes Continuous Operation Issue with Calculator's Equals Sign
In iOS 18, Apple made adjustments to the system's built-in Calculator app, addressing a longstanding issue that prevented users from performing consecutive operations using the equals sign—an improvement that, surprisingly, did not meet with user approval.
The so-called consecutive operation using the equals sign allows for continuous calculation. For instance, after calculating 5*8 and pressing the equals sign to get the first result of 40, pressing the equals sign again would result in 40*8, and pressing it once more would give 40*8*8.
Following the removal of this feature, Apple received numerous requests for its restoration. Although it's unclear which users frequently need this feature, Apple has indeed brought it back.
With the latest release of iOS 18.3 Beta 2, the Calculator app once again supports consecutive operations with the equals sign. Therefore, once the official version of iOS 18.3 is released at the end of this month, users who rely on this feature can return to using the built-in Calculator app, eliminating the need for third-party calculator apps.
