Microsoft Confirms Fix in Progress for Windows 11 Explorer Icon Overlap and Menu Disarray
Previously, Landian.news reported on the abnormal style of the File Explorer options in the latest Windows 11 24H2 update. When maximizing the File Explorer window (or pressing F11 for full screen) and then accessing the menu, users found that it would pop up upwards, causing the menu contents to extend beyond the screen, making them invisible and unclickable.
Other issues include icon overlap in the File Explorer when in full screen mode, and some icons in the file area displaying ghost images. This problem affects not only the latest version of Windows 11 but also previous versions.

👆After clicking the option in the above picture, it flies out of the screen and cannot be viewed or clicked
Microsoft has now confirmed that it is working on a fix. The patch is currently being tested in the Windows 11 23H2 Beta version and will be gradually rolled out to the official release and the Windows 11 24H2 update.
Given that this issue has been around for a considerable time, its resolution has come as a surprise to many. There have been multiple feedback entries about this issue in the Windows 11 Feedback Hub.
To Reproduction this issue on Windows 11 23H2/24H2, follow these steps:
- Open File Explorer (any folder), then press F11 to go full screen. You'll notice icon overlap or ghost images for main folders and OneDrive in the top left corner, which is mostly a visual discomfort rather than a functional hindrance.
- In full-screen mode, click on the top menu of the File Explorer. You'll find that the menu pops upwards, displaying only a few options while others are off-screen and unclickable.
