NTDEV Releases Live11, an Ultra-Lightweight Windows 11 Variant for Testing and Maintenance

NTDEV, known for creating highly streamlined versions of Windows 10 and 11 called Tiny10 and Tiny11, has recently unveiled a new release named Live11. This extreme version, based on Windows 11, is designed to minimize resource usage and maximize performance by removing redundant components.

After installation, Live11 occupies a mere 4GB of space, indicating that it has undergone more extensive trimming compared to its predecessors. The result is a version that retains only some of the core features of Windows 11.

According to the developers, Live11 is primarily intended for testing purposes. Its compact size allows users to easily burn it onto USB drives or even DVDs for convenient booting when needed for testing or maintenance tasks. However, due to its primary focus on testing and maintenance, Live11’s functionality is rather limited.

Usage instructions:

  • Live11 can only be booted on MBR/BIOS systems and currently does not support UEFI or GPT partition tables.
  • Although it occupies 4GB, the actual installation requires at least 8GB of space. Once installed, the occupied space is indeed 4GB.
  • For virtual machine installation and testing, Live11 supports VMware and Hyper-V but is not compatible with VirtualBox, as it may hang during startup.
  • Live11 is currently a concept project under development and improvement, so users may encounter various issues.
  • Live11 includes a portable version of the Firefox browser; however, Edge has been removed.
