New Scam Alert on TON Blockchain: "Send TON and Get 5,000 USDT"? Don't Fall for It!
A popular scam has been circulating on the TON blockchain, where scammers create phishing websites claiming to offer super-low prices for USDT-Ton (a stablecoin issued on the TON network).
While this scam is not new, the twist is that TON allows users to add comments when making transactions. Scammers have embedded a "Received +5,000 USDT" note in their phishing website's code.
When users interact with the scammer's TON wallet online and transfer funds, the transaction automatically includes the "Received +5,000 USDT" note, making it seem like they can get USDT at an extremely low price. However, no matter how hard they check, the 5,000 USDT never appears in their TON wallet.
Another issue is that the TonKeeper wallet can automatically read comments and display them in transaction records. This feature, originally designed to help users view notes during TON transactions, has been exploited by scammers.
So far, a phishing website's TON wallet has received 22,000 TON, equivalent to approximately $151,800 in cryptocurrency assets, in just a few days.
As of this article's publication, the phishing address is still receiving TON transactions. We urge all cryptocurrency users to be cautious and remember that there's no such thing as a free lunch. Don't fall for scams that promise unrealistic returns, such as "send 1 Ethereum and get 3 Ethereum back" rewards.
