VirtualBox 7.0.20: New Fixes, Linux Kernel Support, and Secure Boot Enhancements
Oracle's open-source virtual machine software, VirtualBox v7.0.20, was released today, introducing initial support for the openSUSE 15.6 and RHEL 9.5 kernels.
This update follows the release of version 7.0.18 two months ago, with version 7.0.20 being a minor update. Version 7.0.18 had introduced more fixes to address UBSAN warnings and corrected the issue of incorrect timestamp display for mounted shared folders in Linux Guest Additions. It also resolved crashes that could occur on the host system when the virtual machine used bridged or host-only network adapters.
The 7.0.20 version includes several bug fixes:
- Initial support for kernels in openSUSE 15.6 and RHEL 9.5 for both Linux guests and hosts.
- Fixed the issue of pasting an extra newline when copying text between Windows and X11.
- Resolved a USB OHCI deadlock problem triggered by saving the current state of the virtual machine or taking snapshots.
- Corrected the issue of passing USB devices to the virtual machine on VirtualBox for Mac.
- Addressed errors related to TPM in the event viewer on VirtualBox for Windows hosts.
- Fixed the HDA audio recording issues after rebooting virtual machines on Windows 10/11.
- This update also adds a new Microsoft certificate to the virtual machine's UEFI secure boot list (for newly installed virtual machines only).
VirtualBox is a widely acclaimed open-source virtual machine software that supports various operating systems, including Windows, Linux, macOS, and more. Interested users can download the latest version from the official VirtualBox website.
