Get Early Free Access to GPT-4o: Your Quick Start Guide
OpenAI is currently rolling out its latest GPT-4o model, with a portion of users already able to use the GPT-4o model on the web version, Mac client, and ChatGPT mobile app.
GPT-4o matches the capabilities of GPT-4 but delivers faster responses. It supports text, voice, and visual inputs, offering an improved experience over both GPT-4 and GPT-3.5.
Most notably, GPT-4o is available for free, meaning that even users without a ChatGPT Plus subscription can utilize it. In theory, as long as you have a functioning ChatGPT account, you can start using the GPT-4o model right now.
So, what if you haven't received testing access from OpenAI? The previous workaround applies: simply append the model name to the URL: https://chatgpt.com/?model=gpt-4o
By visiting this link and logging into your ChatGPT account, you can initiate a new conversation. Upon receiving a response from ChatGPT, click the button to view the current version, and you will see that you are indeed using GPT-4o.
Conversations synchronized on the web version will also sync to the ChatGPT for iOS/Android apps, so you should be able to use GPT-4o on your mobile devices as well.
Additionally, a select group of users who have received testing access from OpenAI will see an option to choose GPT-4o on their mobile devices. Those without testing access won't see this option, but they should be able to use GPT-4o through synchronized conversations.
