Intel Releases Detailed BIOS Configuration Guide to Address Crash Issues with 13th/14th Gen Core i7 and i9 Processors

Since the beginning of the year, users who have purchased Intel's high-end desktop CPU products have reported occasional crashes while gaming. After an investigation, EPIC concluded that the crashes were due to a hardware quality issue with the CPU, not a problem with the game engine, urging players to contact their motherboard and CPU manufacturers.

Intel's subsequent investigation pointed to potential issues with motherboard manufacturers' BIOS firmware configurations, accusing some of neglecting stability in favor of maximizing performance.

Ultimately, Intel and motherboard manufacturers agreed to update BIOS files to fix the crash issues affecting the 13th and 14th generation Intel Core i7 and i9 series. The solution involves lowering the power supply voltage to allow the CPU to operate more stably, though at the cost of reduced performance.

Recently, Intel updated on this issue by releasing a detailed technical guide. Gamers can now adjust their BIOS settings to Intel's recommended configurations, overriding the default settings provided by motherboard manufacturers.

Given the time since the issue first emerged, Intel's release of the detailed configuration guide suggests extensive testing has been conducted. Following the recommended settings should help improve stability.
