Microsoft Rolls Out Defender Update Images for Professional Users and Businesses for Integration with WIM/VHD
Microsoft frequently releases new versions of Microsoft Defender update images, encompassing antivirus software packages, platform updates, core engine enhancements, and security intelligence updates.
This week, Microsoft has introduced a new update image suitable for all versions of Windows 11, Windows 10, and Windows 2016 to 2022, primarily targeting professional users and enterprise IT administrators.
Why Use Update Images?
In the hours following a Windows system installation, it might not automatically update its virus definitions online, and the pre-installed virus definitions, binary files, and engine versions could be outdated.
During this window, the system is vulnerable to security flaws, allowing malware to launch attacks undetected by Microsoft Defender.
To address security concerns, Microsoft periodically updates the Microsoft Defender update images, enabling security-conscious professional users and enterprise IT administrators to immediately update their virus definitions after system deployment, ensuring optimal security.
The update image is compatible with Home, Professional, Enterprise, and Server editions, allowing anyone interested to integrate the update image directly into WIM or VHD.
Version Information for This Release:
- Microsoft Defender package version: 1.413.494.0
- Antimalware client version: 4.18.24060.7
- Antimalware engine version: 1.1.24060.1
- Security intelligence version: 1.143.494.0
