Zotac Launches Gaming Handheld Zotac Zone with AMOLED Display and 120Hz Refresh Rate
The competition among gaming handheld manufacturers seems to be heating up: Following the ASUS ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion gaming handhelds, Zotac has now launched its own gaming handheld with superior display configurations.
Named Zotac Zone, this gaming handheld runs on Windows 11 and is powered by an AMD processor. However, Zotac has made efforts in other hardware aspects, such as incorporating a 7-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a peak brightness of 800 nits.
To prevent issues like joystick drift, Zotac has equipped the controller with Hall sensors. Additionally, there are two touchpads and trigger buttons, which can be activated based on trigger distance or simulated trigger distance, and a radial dial for adjusting system settings in-game.
In terms of other hardware specifications, the Zotac Zone is powered by an AMD RYZEN 7 8840U processor, with 16GB of memory and 512GB of SSD storage. For users requiring more storage, there's the option to expand via microSD card.
Moreover, the Zotac Zone supports AMD Fluid Motion Frames and FidelityFX Super Resolution solutions, offering advanced users more features to enhance the gaming experience.
Interestingly, despite being a gaming handheld, Zotac has included a 1MP 720p camera, which seems quite minimal and potentially superfluous for a gaming device. Yet, Zotac has also added a fingerprint sensor on the front, presumably to enable quick unlocking of Windows 11?
Below are the Zotac Zone specifications:
- CPU: AMD RYZEN 7 8840U, based on ZEN 4, 8 cores 16 threads, up to 5.1GHz
- GPU: AMD Radeon 780M, based on AMD RDNA3, up to 2.7GHz
- Memory: 16GB LPDDR5X-7500
- Onboard Storage: 512GB M.2 PCIe 4.0 2280 SSD
- Battery Capacity: 48.5Wh
- Ports: USB-C x 2, microSD card slot
- Wireless Connectivity: WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2
- Weight: 692 grams
Retail Price: $799, the same as ASUS ROG Ally. However, aside from the display advantage, Zotac's other benefits aren't as pronounced. ASUS also offers 24GB of memory and a 1TB SSD, most importantly, a battery capacity of 80Wh, which significantly extends the battery life compared to the Zotac Zone.
