Maximize Your Cloud Potential with Google’s New Premium Developer Offer
At the Google I/O 2024 developer conference, Google announced the launch of its Google Developer Program, setting it apart from other developer schemes. The Google Developer Program is free and offers Google Cloud credits.
Developers certified through the free plan are granted access to developer tools powered by Gemini, featuring sidebar chat, search summaries, and code interpretation, among other functions.
The free plan also includes support for 3 Project IDX workspaces, free cloud learning credits, and early access to new products or features. Millions of developers have already registered for the free plan.
Building on this, Google announced this week the launch of its paid Google Developer Program Premium Membership. The membership costs $299/year to purchase, and although it is charged, Google also provides at least $500/year of Google Cloud credits.
These credits allow users to use various services on the Google Cloud Platform for free. Theoretically, if developers really need to use Google Cloud Platform servers or other resources, then subscribing to the Premium Membership could be quite cost-effective.
Additionally, if Premium Members pass a Google Cloud certification each year, they can receive an additional 500 per year in credits, totaling up to 1000 in credit per year.
Beyond the credits, Premium Members gain access to over 700 Google Cloud Skills Boost on-demand training programs, which have a retail value of $299 per year, included with their membership.
Google even offers expert consultation services. If developers need, for instance, to discuss challenging AI issues or seek expert feedback on their architectural designs, they can book a 30 or 60-minute consultation for free.
Finally, the benefits of the free plan remain unchanged, continuing to offer the same standards as before. However, since it is free, interested developers can register immediately.
