OpenAI to Host Spring Update Event Next Tuesday, Not GPT-5 or Search Engine
OpenAI has announced that it will host a Spring Updates event on May 13th at 10:00 AM Pacific Time, focusing on updates to ChatGPT and GPT-4.
There has been a lot of news during this time that OpenAI will launch ChatGPT with networking capabilities, and it will not be based on Microsoft Bing search, which is the rumored ChatGPT search engine. OpenAI will directly compete with Google search. However, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has clarified that this event is not about releasing GPT-5 or a search engine.
Speculations suggest that OpenAI will unveil new models based on GPT-4, offering improved performance and capabilities. The current latest model is gpt-4-turbo-0125-preview, with a database cutoff date of December 2023. The updated model's database cutoff date is expected to be refreshed, providing more up-to-date data even without internet connectivity.
The ChatGPT interface may undergo some adjustments, but it remains to be seen if there will be any notable new features.
While OpenAI's search engine is not on the agenda for this event, it doesn't necessarily mean the rumors are false. OpenAI might still launch a ChatGPT search engine at a later time.
