OpenAI Tests New Feature: Enterprise ChatGPT to Connect with OneDrive and Google Drive
As Microsoft and Google continue to develop their own AI programs to help businesses streamline workflows and increase efficiency within Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, OpenAI seems poised to make its mark on the enterprise application market. The enterprise version of ChatGPT is currently testing new features that allow it to connect across platforms to other applications.
According to a post by netizen @Kristi Hines, the connectivity feature in testing will initially support Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive for Business, and personal versions. Despite OpenAI being backed by Microsoft, Google Drive is mentioned before OneDrive (a humorous nod to their competitive relationship 😂😂😂).
Once users authorize and connect their cloud storage, they will be able to use ChatGPT to read files stored there, such as spreadsheets and documents. Leveraging ChatGPT's exceptional data analysis capabilities, users can directly analyze spreadsheet content and summarize document contents.
Some users may naturally worry about potential privacy and security issues. However, like Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT for Enterprise is expected not to use data for training purposes, given the additional privacy standards for enterprise versions.
Can it be used without connecting to the cloud? Absolutely. Users can download spreadsheets or documents and upload them manually, which is feasible but more cumbersome. This method also prevents ChatGPT from accessing your entire file list.
Without selecting files for analysis, ChatGPT is expected to only read the list rather than download all the user's files to its servers, so enterprise users should not be concerned about this issue.
The personal version of ChatGPT does not have this feature yet, and it's uncertain if it will be extended to the personal version in the future. Such an expansion would allow users to easily analyze files by connecting ChatGPT with their personal cloud storage accounts.
By the way, OpenAI's recently introduced GPT-4o model excels in data analysis. You can upload Excel spreadsheets for various sophisticated data analyses. Not to mention, the charts and tables it can generate would fit perfectly into PowerPoint presentations 😉😉😉.
