Cloudflare WARP+ Referral Program Ends November 1st: No More Unlimited Data Through Referrals
Cloudflare's WARP+ service, a premium version of its encrypted connection service , will see its referral program come to an end on November 1, 2024. WARP+ enhances online privacy and security, particularly useful when connecting to public Wi-Fi in places like hotels, by encrypting internet traffic to prevent hijacking by hackers or other devices on the same network.
Traditionally, WARP+ users could significantly increase their data limit, virtually to unlimited, through referrals and certain technical methods. However, Cloudflare is closing this loophole to prevent the exploitation of unlimited data.
According to Cloudflare's announcement, from November 1st onwards, the referral program will be discontinued, and no new referral codes will be issued. This means users will no longer be able to boost their data through referrals, marking the end of the nearly unlimited data use that some have enjoyed for years.
After existing WARP+ data and any data obtained through referrals are used up, users will be automatically transitioned to the free version of WARP. This change means access to fewer servers and potentially increased network latency, although the basic encryption and security features remain.
For users still wanting the enhanced service, Cloudflare offers the WARP Unlimited plan at $4.99 per month, available for subscription through the WARP app for iOS and Android.
Cloudflare has been known for its consumer-friendly policies, and despite closing this loophole, it continues to offer a free version of WARP, ensuring basic encrypted connection services remain accessible to all. Those requiring higher quality network connections may consider the paid subscription.
