Telegram Introduces Paid Group Joining/Sponsorship Tips and Bot Payments to Benefit Creators
The leading instant messaging tool, Telegram, announced today a new paid support program for content creators and bot developers. This program allows creators and developers to earn revenue from users, who make payments through Telegram Star. Creators can then convert these Stars into the cryptocurrency TON to receive their earnings.
Telegram has launched three features in this update, two aimed at content creators and one at bot developers, as detailed below.
Sponsorship Tips: Star Reactions
Similar to the sponsorship feature of WeChat Public Accounts, creators can receive financial support from users through paid tips via Telegram Star after publishing content on their subscription channels.
Telegram takes no cut from these sponsorship tips, ensuring that creators receive 100% of the payments from users. Creators looking to enable this feature should navigate to channel settings, reactions, and enable paid reactions.
Paid Subscriptions for Joining Groups: Star Subscriptions
This feature allows creators to set their channel to private and add a paid subscription function, similar to the commonly referred paid group joining. Users must pay the corresponding Telegram Star to subscribe to the channel.
To enable this feature, go to channel settings, channel type, manage invitation links, create a new link, and enable a required monthly fee. After setting the number of Stars, users will need to pay Stars to join the group and continue paying the subscription fee each month.
Paid Media Features for Bots:
Primarily for bot developers, this function allows the developers of bot channels to set up paid images and videos. Users must pay the corresponding Stars to view the images or videos.
This monetization strategy helps bot developers earn revenue, enabling them to continue developing bots on Telegram channels and allowing more users to utilize bots for various operations.
Super Channel Feature:
Starting today, channel administrators can publish content under their personal identity, making the channel appear more like their own rather than showing the channel name and picture.
This feature is straightforward to use: simply switch identities when publishing content, choosing the identity you require, and you can even post information as another channel or profile.
