China and Indonesia Version Apple Watches S10 Do Not Support Fast Charging and Chargers Are Not Compatible Across Different Regions
According to the latest technical support document released by Apple, due to regulations related to Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) compliance in countries or regions with WPT laws, the Apple Watch comes with a charger that meets the WPT standard.
These chargers do not support fast charging nor are they compatible for use across different regions. For example, chargers for the Apple Watch from China and Indonesia cannot be used to charge Apple Watches marketed in other regions.
When attempting to use a charger across regions, the Apple Watch will display a message stating: Unable to charge. This charger is specific to a certain country/region and is not compatible with this Apple Watch.
The following Apple Watch models sold in China are affected by the WPT standard:
- Apple Watch Series 10
- Apple Watch Ultra 2, model: MXXXX/CH/B
- Apple Watch SE 2, model: MXXXX/CH/B
The following Apple Watch model sold in Indonesia is affected by the WPT standard:
- Apple Watch Series 10
Apple includes a USB-C cable and a magnetic charging dock in the Apple Watch sales package. The main compatibility issue arises with this charging dock. To determine if a charger is affected, one can check the product packaging; if it is marked with compliance to the WPT standard or the charger side is printed with the WPT logo, it indicates the charger is affected.
