Microsoft Continues to Integrate AI into Paint App: Supports Quick Generation or Removal of Elements in Images
Previously, Microsoft removed the Paint 3D version from its app store, a move that signified the end of high hopes the company once had for the app. At the time of its launch, Microsoft even considered discontinuing the traditional Paint app in favor of the 3D version.
However, the outcome has seen the 3D version of Paint fade away, while the traditional Paint application (which is actually a remastered version, not the one from the Windows 8 era) continues to receive active updates.
Recently, Microsoft integrated Microsoft Designer support into the Paint app, allowing users to generate images using Bing Image Creator, powered by OpenAI's DALL-E 3.
In the latest beta release, Microsoft has further enhanced the AI capabilities of the Paint app by adding the ability to quickly generate elements within images using AI, or remove existing elements from photos using AI technology.
If users are dissatisfied with the generated content, they can regenerate it. However, these features are likely not free. While Microsoft has not specified, using Bing Image Creator requires AI credits to deduct usage counts, suggesting that each image generation could consume user credits.
Currently, the AI-powered Paint is only available in select markets that support the technology. Even if users in other markets update to the beta version of Paint, they may not be able to use the AI features, which might not necessarily be a bad thing.
