Developers Take Note: Stripe Instant Payout Feature Rate Increases by 50%, Affecting Only the US Market
Many developers looking to expand their market overseas have chosen to register private companies in the United States and have opted for Stripe as their payment platform.
Today, Stripe announced an update to the pricing of its Instant Payouts feature. The fee for instant withdrawals has increased from 1% to 1.5%, a 50% increase, which may affect some developers.
This price change only impacts developers based in the United States. If a developer's business is registered in the US and collects payments through a US private company, the new rate will apply when choosing instant withdrawal.
If developers opt not to use the instant withdrawal feature and stick with standard withdrawals, no fees will be charged, and the funds will be available within two business days. Therefore, unless there is an urgent need to access funds in a Stripe account, standard withdrawal is generally advisable.
Here's the summary of the pricing policy update:
- Market: Merchants located within the United States
- Rate: Changed from 1% to 1.5%
- Standard Withdrawal: Free, within two business days
- Applicable to: Stripe main accounts, standard Connect sub-accounts
- Effective Date: June 1, 2024
