Apple May Rotate iPad Logo to Emphasize Horizontal Use
For a long time, the Apple logo on the back of iPads has been placed vertically, and promotional images have also been displayed in a vertical orientation, emphasizing the device's portrait mode.
However, it's clear that iPads are now being used horizontally in many scenarios, including when paired with Apple's Smart Keyboard to function as a laptop, and even when used with the Apple Pencil or for gaming.
As more and more users adopt horizontal use of their iPads, Apple is considering rotating the logo on future iPad releases, which could lead to a shift towards horizontal promotional images.
It's surprising that it's taken Apple so long to consider this change, given that most users are already using their iPads horizontally, whether it's for watching TV, gaming, or using the Apple Pencil or Smart Keyboard.
According to Apple's product designer, Molly Anderson, in a French interview, "We're thinking about this issue. The iPad has traditionally been a vertically-oriented product, but we're using it more and more horizontally."
It's unclear when Apple will make the logo change, but with new iPads, iPad Pros, and iPad Airs already released, and a new iPad Mini on the horizon, it's unlikely to happen anytime soon.
