AI-Enhanced Siri Set to Debut in iOS 18.4 Release Next Spring
During the WWDC 2024 developer conference, Apple showcased its AI-enhanced Siri, a new version capable of editing photos, understanding content on the screen, inferring intentions based on context, and facilitating cross-app operations. This upgrade essentially bolsters Siri's capabilities through Apple Intelligence, leveraging AI to significantly augment its functionality.
However, according to the latest news from Bloomberg's well-known editor, Mark Gurman, this enhanced version of Siri won't hit the market anytime soon. It is expected to be introduced to developers through the iOS 18 beta update in January next year and might only become available to all users with the official release of iOS 18.4.
The iOS 18.4 version is anticipated to launch sometime in the spring of 2025, meaning users will have to wait quite a while to experience the new features previewed by Apple, especially those related to Apple Intelligence.
Interestingly, iOS 18 is also expected to integrate chatbots like OpenAI's ChatGPT. The exact timing of these features' launch remains unclear, but recent leaks suggest that many of the touted Apple Intelligence functionalities might not be ready by the time the official iOS 18 version rolls out this fall, painting a picture of unfulfilled promises in the realm of AI capabilities.
