Apple Launches iOS 18.2 Developer Preview Featuring Numerous AI Capabilities Including ChatGPT Integration
As iOS 18.1 wraps up development and undergoes final release preview tests, it is expected to be rolled out to all supported iPhones next week if all goes smoothly.
In the meantime, Apple has commenced testing for iOS 18.2. Today, Apple released the iOS 18.2 developer preview, introducing a slew of AI-related features.
These features include:
- Siri Integration with ChatGPT: Providing users with more useful and comprehensive Q&A information.
- Genmoji: Merging different Emojis to create new, personalized expressions.
- Image Playground: Utilizing AI to quickly generate images.
- AI-based Visual Search Functionality.
- AI Integration in Writing Tools, Email, Notifications Summaries, and Transcription Summaries for Phone Recordings.
Siri's ChatGPT Integration:
Regular Siri users might be aware that Siri can only handle relatively simple tasks, such as setting alarms, and struggles with anything more complex.
With the integration of ChatGPT into Siri, when Siri encounters a problem it cannot solve, it will call upon ChatGPT to handle the task, significantly enhancing Siri's ability to tackle complex issues.
For users who have subscribed to ChatGPT Plus, they can log in with their accounts to unlock additional quota restrictions, leveraging ChatGPT to perform more operations.
Limited Market Support at This Stage:
Initially, "Apple Intelligence" will only be available in the US market in American English. With this update, Apple has expanded market support to include Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom, although it will still only be offered in American English.
