macOS Now Supports iPhone Screen Mirroring with Jiggle Mode, Allowing iPhone Home Screen Editing on Mac
In the macOS Sequoia edition, Apple has introduced an iPhone mirroring feature that goes beyond the previous screen projection capabilities from iPhone to Mac. This new mirroring feature allows users to operate their iPhone from their Mac, such as opening apps and viewing messages, proving to be a handy tool for multitasking.
In the latest beta, Apple has added a feature not deemed critical but interesting nonetheless: Jiggle Mode. This allows users to edit their iPhone's screen and even widgets directly from their Mac.
Using this feature is straightforward. During iPhone screen mirroring, simply long-press any app icon or an empty space on the desktop with your mouse, and the icons will start jiggling, indicating they can be edited. At this point, users can drag app icons, edit groups, and widgets, among other things.
However, options to lock the screen or access the control center are currently not supported. Also, notifications on the iPhone can only be viewed through the Mac's Notification Center, which means you can't open the notification or control center via swiping gestures. It remains to be seen whether Apple will make improvements in future versions.
For now, these features are only available on macOS Sequoia 15+ and iOS 18+, and will be accessible to all users upon the official release in the fall.
