Microsoft Reveals "Black Myth: Wukong" to Land on Xbox Platform, Yet Release Date Remains Under Wraps
The popular game "Black Myth: Wukong" opened to massive acclaim from gamers yesterday, quickly becoming the best-selling game on the Steam platform, with a peak online player count reaching 2.22 million.
According to data from the Steam platform, "Black Myth: Wukong" has become the single-player game with the highest number of players and the second-largest game on the platform, with its peak player count only surpassed by PUBG.
Many gamers have been eagerly anticipating whether "Black Myth: Wukong" would be available on the Microsoft Xbox platform. Currently, the game is only supported on Windows and PS5 platforms, with no initial support for Microsoft Xbox at launch.
In fact, Game Science, the developer behind the game, initially planned to support Windows, PS5, and Xbox simultaneously. However, they announced this summer that the Xbox version needed optimization and was therefore delayed.
It is confirmed that "Black Myth: Wukong" will still be supported on the Xbox platform, as a Microsoft spokesperson also revealed similar news:
"We are excited that 'Black Myth: Wukong' will be coming to Xbox Series X|S in the future. We are working with Game Science to bring this game to the Xbox platform. We cannot comment on deals our partners have with other platforms, but we remain focused on making Xbox the best platform for gamers."
The statement from the Microsoft spokesperson suggests that the delay in releasing the Xbox version of "Black Myth: Wukong" might be due to some form of exclusive time-limited agreement Sony has reached with Game Science, allowing the game to support only PS5 and not Xbox for the time being.
If that's the case, then the release of "Black Myth: Wukong" on the Xbox platform would have to wait until the exclusive time-limited agreement between Sony and Game Science concludes. Typically, such time-limited agreements do not last very long.
