OpenAI's ChatGPT Search Now Open to All Users, Featuring Advanced Voice Mode
In October, OpenAI launched the AI-powered search engine, ChatGPT Search, initially exclusive to ChatGPT Plus subscribers. This search engine, powered by a fine-tuned version of the OpenAI GPT-4o model, leverages large language models and internet data to deliver real-time information from the web, such as the latest sports scores, news, and stock prices, complete with source links for follow-up questions and search optimization.
Today, OpenAI announced that ChatGPT Search is now accessible to all users, including both subscribed and free ChatGPT users. Access is straightforward: simply open the ChatGPT client or the web version and click the globe icon in the conversation bar to initiate a web search.
After two months of testing, OpenAI has also enhanced the search speed of ChatGPT Search. It's now faster, and users can set it as their default search engine in browsers for easier future use.How to Set ChatGPT Search as Your Default Browser Search Engine
For iOS and Android users, ChatGPT Search displays better-organized business information, such as company addresses and phone numbers, gathered by scraping third-party data.
Furthermore, ChatGPT Search has been integrated into the advanced voice mode, a real-time conversational feature provided by OpenAI for ChatGPT. This means users can now search for the latest data during live conversations.
However, access to the search feature in the advanced voice mode is still rolling out. OpenAI plans to gradually make it available to ChatGPT desktop and mobile users over the coming days. Note that the advanced voice mode is exclusively for ChatGPT subscribers.
