Google Offers Free Cloud Storage to Legacy G Suite Users,Fees paid will also be automatically refunded
G Suite, Google's suite of productivity tools for businesses and schools, underwent a rebranding in 2020, becoming Google Workspace. This change was in line with Google's tradition of renaming its services.
Following the rebranding, Google updated various subscription plans and required users of the older G Suite version to migrate to the new subscription plans to continue using the services.
Despite the migration plans being in place for several years, many users persisted with G Suite instead of moving to Google Workspace. Consequently, Google relented and, in May 2022, announced that users of the free version of G Suite could retain their accounts for personal use. They had the option to purchase additional storage space for a fee.
However, Google is now issuing automatic refunds to those who had paid for extra storage space, as it has decided to allow these steadfast users to continue using G Suite and its storage space for free.
In essence, legacy G Suite individual users can not only continue using their accounts but also keep their storage space quotas, which are now provided for free. They no longer need to pay for this storage space.
Since payment is no longer required, Google is automatically refunding the last payment made by these users.
This is undoubtedly great news for these users. Whether or not they continue to use G Suite, the fact that they can retain their accounts and have access to free storage space is a significant benefit.
G Suite users are advised to check their emails, as Google should have sent a comprehensive notification by now.
