OpenAI Announces Full Availability of ChatGPT for Mac Client to All Users
OpenAI, during its spring conference, introduced an official ChatGPT client for Mac users. This client was initially in a testing phase, accessible only to a limited number of users (though some found ways to bypass these restrictions). Today, OpenAI has announced that the ChatGPT for Mac client is now fully available online.
All Mac users can now download the official ChatGPT client from OpenAI's official website. The client offers features similar to the web version, including model selection, conversation history, and preset prompts.
Additionally, the client introduces unique functionalities not available on the web version. These include a voice mode for direct voice conversations and a search function to retrieve previous sessions.
For users with an active ChatGPT Plus subscription, there is access to a higher GPT-4 series quota, such as the latest GPT-4o, which allows for more conversation turns. Free users without a subscription can also use GPT-4o, but due to limited quotas, they might quickly reach their conversation limit and have to wait Dozens hours to reset their quota.
The client supports shortcuts, allowing users to quickly open the ChatGPT interface for conversations using Option+Space. OpenAI has also included various settings within the client, which users can adjust according to their preferences.
Regarding a ChatGPT client for Windows, there's no news yet. OpenAI previously mentioned that the Mac version was prioritized due to higher engagement levels among Mac users, but plans to release a Windows version and more do not have a specific timeline.
