Google Integrates AI-Powered Website Reviews into Chrome that can display website review summaries from third parties
Google is taking significant strides in integrating AI capabilities into its Chrome browser. According to discoveries made by @Leopeva64, Chrome is now testing an AI-driven review feature specifically designed for websites.
This innovative feature, however, seems to be targeted primarily at online stores or e-commerce platforms, aptly named "Shop Reviews." The reviews are not directly generated by AI but are instead compiled from third-party reviews which Google then processes through AI to display.
When users click on the website option located on the left side of the address bar, they can access the shop reviews. These are drawn from third-party review websites such as Trust Pilot and ScamAdvisor, subsequently synthesized by AI to present a consolidated rating.
This function allows users to quickly gauge the credibility of e-commerce sites they visit. If a site has predominantly negative reviews or a low rating, the AI-enhanced summary will reflect this, providing a valuable reference for users.
Theoretically, this feature is expected to eventually extend only to websites with an online store or e-commerce nature. Currently, as it's still in development, the shop review feature appears for any website, though the reviews are temporarily empty.
Google plans to enrich the shop reviews feature by adding options that would allow users to visit the source websites directly after viewing the AI-generated summaries. This way, users can manually explore all reviews related to the site, offering a deeper insight into its reputation.
