Oracle's open-source virtual machine software, VirtualBox, today announced the release of version 7.1.0 Beta 1. Given that this version is still under testing, Landian.news will not yet feature it in the download category. The official version will be updated and added to Landian.news download category upon its release.
The release of the beta version signifies a major version update for VirtualBox. This update not only introduces a refreshed user interface but also brings several new features and improvements.
Among the most significant changes is the development of VirtualBox 7.1.0 based on Qt 6, which provides a modern GUI interface. Users can choose between a basic user level and a professional user level.

This update introduces clipboard sharing between Linux virtual machines and host machines under Wayland, allowing users to copy and paste content conveniently. Additionally, the new NAT network supports IPv6, enabling virtual machines to obtain IPv6 addresses from the host machine for networking.
In terms of ARM virtualization, VirtualBox 7.1.0 supports deploying Linux or other BSD virtual machines on macOS or other devices based on the ARM architecture. This enhancement in ARM virtualization support contributes to improved compatibility and performance.
Other optimizations and improvements include:
- Optimization and enhancement of the screen recording function
- Update of the Oracle VirtualBox extension pack to remove duplicate evaluation options and adjust the PUEL license
