Linux Mint 22 Rolls Out ISO for Testing, Built on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS
Linux Mint, a popular derivative of Canonical's Ubuntu, typically releases updates a month following the launch of the new Ubuntu LTS versions. Despite the April release of Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, Linux Mint 22 was conspicuously absent in May, only now beginning its rollout with ISO images available for testing.
The Linux Mint community has released these new ISO images marked for testing, indicating a series of upcoming minor test versions before the final release.
Historically, Linux Mint 21.3 was developed based on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. However, Linux Mint 22 marks a significant version update, being built on the latest Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.
This new version promises five years of support updates, extending usability until 2029. Yet, specifics on what updates Linux Mint 22 brings to the table remain under wraps for now.
