New Features in the Search Bar:
The hot search feature, which was initially tested in the beta version, has now reached the stable version. When users click on the address bar, it will display the current hot search content provided by the search engine, visible when Google is set as the default search engine.
Users who dislike this feature can turn it off in Settings > Search > Disable search suggestions, after which the address bar will no longer provide hot search terms forwarded by the search engine.
Improved Clear Data Dialog:
Clearing data in Firefox is now more convenient. In the clear data and cookies dialog, users can select the time range and types of data they wish to clear (history, cookies and site data, temporary files, site settings).
Available time ranges for selection include the past hour, past two hours, past four hours, today, and all time, allowing users to quickly select and clear data from a specific period.
Introduction of Ad Measurement Feature:
This feature, already present in Chrome and Microsoft Edge, is now enabled by default in Firefox v128.0. Once enabled, it allows websites to perform privacy-protected ad measurement, essentially helping advertisers evaluate the quality of their ad placements.
Support for DRM Content in Private Mode Including Netflix Videos:
With this update, Firefox has added support for DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected content in private browsing mode, allowing users to play content from video streaming sites like Netflix, which typically protect their content with DRM mechanisms.
Other Improvements:
- Firefox for Android now supports creating and using passwords through third-party password managers.
- Improved audio quality for Firefox for macOS version.
- Added support for the Saraiki (skr) language, spoken in parts of Western Punjab and West Asia.
This update underscores Firefox's commitment to enhancing user experience and privacy, catering to diverse user needs with its new features and improvements.
