Z-Library will soon be charged for download? Netizens who have visited the fake website should beware of fraudulent emails
Z-Library, often referred to as the "Internet's Library," offers free book downloads to all users. Users can obtain unlimited download rights through donations, but even without donating, long-term free downloads are available, albeit with a daily quota.
However, numerous counterfeit sites that mimic Z-Library's appearance are currently online. Users can even register and log in on these fake sites, but these data are not connected to Z-Library's official website.
A netizen, @xiaoyutongxue, recently received a scam email from one of these counterfeit sites, claiming that Z-Library would soon become accessible only to new members who donate. If users fail to upgrade to a premium membership in time, their access will be permanently revoked.
The scam email stated that users need to purchase €25 or €50 Bitcoin Lightning vouchers, which could be bought via WeChat Pay. After purchasing the vouchers, they could then use them to activate their membership.
The email was sent from [email protected], a domain name that is not controlled by Z-Library and is a typical example of a counterfeit site. It's quite surprising that such scams are still happening.
Let this serve as a reminder that Z-Library does not engage in any mandatory fee-collecting activities. Any claims that donations are required to download are from counterfeit sites. Since Z-Library's domain often gets blocked, frequent users may want to follow Z-Library's Telegram channel, where new domain updates are shared.
