OpenAI's ChatGPT for Windows/Mac Client Introduces Advanced Real-Time Voice Features
The advanced real-time voice functionality of ChatGPT, previously launched on mobile platforms, is now available on desktop platforms. OpenAI announced today that the advanced real-time voice mode has reached the ChatGPT clients for Windows and Mac.
The advanced real-time voice mode allows users to interact directly with the AI model using natural language, just like in real-time chats. While speaking, users can also pause and select the output voice, tone, and emotion of ChatGPT.
For Windows PC users, this is a fantastic tool, especially since Cortana has been discontinued, leaving Windows 10/11 without a comparable digital voice assistant.
For Mac users, it makes Siri almost redundant. Indeed, Siri can interact with ChatGPT, but this feature won't be available until the macOS Sequoia update in December, so it can't be used just yet.
Therefore, if users are already subscribed to ChatGPT Plus or another paid version, now directly use the ChatGPT client for voice interactions, essentially eliminating the need for Siri.
