Apple Launches iOS 18 Beta 7 – Potentially the Final Version Before Official Release
Today, Apple released the seventh beta version of iOS 18 to developers, which seems to focus primarily on bug fixes without introducing significant new features or improvements.
Traditionally, Apple has released an eighth beta version in the last week of August, followed by the official version of the iOS alongside the September new iPhone launch event, and then rolling out updates to all users.
However, according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, this year might be different. There’s speculation that iOS 18 Beta 7 could indeed be the final version. Gurman's statement, however, leaves room for interpretation: "To my knowledge, the latest iOS 18 beta is the final version, aside from features related to new hardware."
This raises the question: Is iOS 18 Beta 7 the final version, or is it the final version that includes new features? There might be another beta version (Beta 8) in the pipeline, potentially without any new features or improvements.
Apple has yet to announce the exact date for this year’s fall event, which could be as early as September 10. If the event is scheduled for the first week of September (up to September 8), then Beta 7 could very well be the final version. However, if the event is planned for the second week, there might still be time for another beta release.
Regardless of the timeline, the new features and major improvements of iOS 18 are now set, and any significant changes beyond the current beta versions are unlikely to occur before the launch of the new iPhone models.
