OpenAI Introduces Free Access to GPT-o1 mini Model for Enhanced Complex Reasoning
Recently, OpenAI unveiled its latest advanced language model, the OpenAI GPT-o1, along with a smaller variant, the o1-mini. Initially, the cutting-edge o1 model was exclusively available to paid subscribers of ChatGPT Plus and ChatGPT Team.
This week marks a significant expansion in access; ChatGPT Enterprise and Edu versions tailored for business and educational users, respectively, will integrate the o1 model. Moreover, a notable update is that the o1-mini version is now freely accessible to all ChatGPT users.
Users can effortlessly transition to the new o1-mini model across different platforms:
- On Desktop: Start a new session and click on "ChatGPT" at the top, then select "Alpha Models" followed by "o1-mini".
- On Mobile: Open any existing or new conversation, send any message, and long-press the response from ChatGPT to see the model adjustment options.
According to our tests at Landian.news , the transition to the OpenAI o1-mini model on the web version is seamless, indicated by an α symbol at the top. However, for iOS users, only the GPT-4o and GPT-4o mini models are currently visible, with the GPT-o1 mini expected to roll out gradually.
OpenAI explains that the new GPT-o1 and GPT-o1 mini models are designed to spend more time contemplating before responding to user queries. Compared to previous iterations, the o1 series can handle complex tasks and solve tougher challenges in science, programming, and mathematics.
