Nintendo Seeks Court Order for Reddit/Google/Cloudflare to Reveal Pirates' Real Information
Is there any company more vigilant about copyright protection than Nintendo? Nintendo is currently seeking support from U.S. courts to obtain detailed information about pirates through court orders from communities like Reddit, internet service provider Cloudflare, Google Search, domain registrar Go Daddy, and code hosting platform GitHub.
The cause of this legal action was initiated when someone created a subreddit for selling modded consoles and pirated games. The defendant, known as Archbox, was also one of the moderators of the r/SwitchPirates subreddit.
At its peak, this subreddit had up to 217,000 members. After Nintendo filed the lawsuit, Archbox did not appear in court, leading to a default judgement in favor of Nintendo. Nintendo has identified other users within this subreddit involved in piracy.
Consequently, Nintendo is seeking court orders to obtain business records from various internet service providers to uncover the real information of these pirates. Nintendo states that the purpose of all subpoenas is to seek infringement claims on behalf of NOA.
Nintendo intends to pursue only the moderators and those suspected of providing pirated content, meaning that members of the subreddit who downloaded or purchased content do not need to worry about potential legal disputes.

Nintendo hopes these companies will cooperate in providing all real information about Archbox, including but not limited to active IP addresses, email addresses, billing information, etc. If Archbox used their real credit card for payments, identifying them could be relatively straightforward, given the transparency prevalent on the internet.
