Market Research Firm Predicts Apple to Launch New iPad Mini with OLED Screen in 2026
Apple's current iPad Mini lineup features relatively standard displays, such as the IPS screen used in the 2022 iPad Mini. However, Apple has gradually incorporated OLED displays into its other devices.
So, will the entry-level iPad Mini switch to an OLED display? The answer is yes, but not until 2026, as Apple is unlikely to introduce a new iPad Mini model in 2025.
Market research firm Omdia has unveiled Apple's product roadmap up to 2030, indicating that by 2026, the iPad Mini will sport an OLED display with a refresh rate of 60Hz and a slightly larger screen size, increasing from 8.3 inches to 8.4 inches.
However, these product roadmaps, which include leaks and predictions, should be taken as references and not absolute truths. After all, Apple could change its plans at any time, rendering these leaks and forecasts inaccurate.
Omdia also predicts that Apple will launch a foldable OLED device in 2028, likely the rumored foldable screen iPhone that Apple has been developing.
If the content of the product roadmap is accurate, Apple is expected to shift significantly towards OLED displays from 2026, replacing traditional IPS screens. OLED displays indeed offer better visual quality, though they come at a higher cost.
