Microsoft Copilot to Embark on Next-Gen AI with OpenAI's GPT-4o Upgrade
At a recent conference, OpenAI announced its latest innovation, the GPT-4o model, which will be available for free to all users through ChatGPT. This move eliminates the need for a ChatGPT Plus subscription for access, though developers will still incur charges when integrating the GPT-4o model via API.
The GPT-4o model boasts multimodal capabilities, including text input, photo uploads, and even real-time visual functions, matching the prowess of GPT-4 and surpassing similar models from other companies.
Microsoft has declared its plans to upgrade Microsoft Copilot from the GPT-4 to the GPT-4o model, initially making the GPT-4o powered Copilot available exclusively on Surface Plus PCs.
Over time, it is expected that the GPT-4o version of Copilot will become accessible to all users. However, it remains uncertain whether Microsoft will support multimodal functionalities, especially real-time visual features.
Microsoft has been swift in adapting to OpenAI's new models, offering upgrades to users shortly after release. Copilot is available for free to consumer users, while business users require a Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription.
