Microsoft Launches Windows 11 Build 26252 (Canary Channel) with Enhanced Lock Screen Content
Last week, due to unknown reasons, Microsoft did not release updates for the Windows Insider Dev and Canary channels. This issue seems to have been resolved this week, as the new version has been released. This update introduces Windows 11 Build 26252 for the Canary Channel.
In this update, Microsoft continues to enrich the lock screen interface with more content and has improved the module styles, including blur background, card size, spacing, and font. Additionally, Microsoft has made improvements to the Start menu, now allowing users to directly drag and drop the Start menu icons to the taskbar for pinning.
Users subscribed to the Windows Insider Canary Channel can access this new version via Windows Update. Below are some highlights from this update's changelog.
More Content on the Lock Screen:
Starting with this version, Microsoft has extended the functionality modules to the lock screen interface, dynamically updating to include not only weather but also financial, traffic, and sports information, enabling users to stay informed about the latest dynamics.
Users who prefer not to have this feature can adjust their preferences in Windows 11 settings under Personalization and Lock Screen options.
Start Menu:
This update introduces a minor improvement to the Start menu. Users wishing to pin apps to the taskbar can now do so by directly dragging them from the Start menu to the taskbar, eliminating the need for the previous right-click and select "pin to taskbar" option.
Settings Application Improvements:
The update adds more detailed information about the evaluation copy expiration time. Users can find the expiration date of the evaluation copy in Windows 11 settings under System and About.
Users must update to a subsequent version before the expiration date; otherwise, the system will intermittently notify that the version has expired. This notification cannot be completely disabled, though the system remains usable.
Additionally, new options have been added to the power settings. Energy-saving recommendations now advise users to turn off HDR display features to reduce monitor power consumption.
Input Method Related:
The update fixes an issue encountered by Windows Insider users when inputting languages such as Chinese.
It also addresses a problem where Pinyin might unexpectedly appear twice in the available input methods during the Windows OOBE phase.
Task Manager:
The update resolves an issue in the Task Manager's performance tab, where certain content might not display correctly in dark mode.
Settings Application Fixes:
Fixed an issue where icons in Settings, Apps, and Startup might be cropped in some situations.
Rectified an issue where duplicate text might appear in Settings, System, Power & Battery regarding warnings about slow charger speeds.
Fixed an issue where some users were unable to open the Windows Update page properly after the last update, with no text displaying.
This update signifies Microsoft's continuous effort in enhancing the user experience with practical improvements and fixes across the system.
