Windows 11 Canary Build 25921 Stirs Controversy: Automatically Downloads and Installs Full Microsoft Teams
From a user submission: Windows 11 Canary Build 25921 automatically downloads, installs the full version of Microsoft Teams, and enables auto-start and auto-login.
The user discovered this change after noticing Microsoft Teams among the hidden icons in the taskbar after an update. We checked and confirmed that not only did it automatically install, auto-start, and auto-login, but it also hid the icon. So, without clicking the small arrow in the tray area, this alteration would have gone unnoticed.
Currently, the European Union is investigating Microsoft for antitrust violations regarding the bundling of Microsoft Teams. One of the improvements Microsoft has proposed is to remove the Chat app (one of the bundled versions of Teams) from Windows 11.
However, it's unexpected that the current Windows 11 Canary build not only fails to completely remove Chat but also automatically installs Microsoft Teams. It must be said that perhaps the EU should intensify its efforts.
