Pinduoduo's Global Version, Temu, Faces Criticism Over Unsubscribable Advertising Emails Due to a Misleading "No WiFi Connection" Error
Pinduoduo has always been known for its surprising maneuvers, a reputation that extends to its global version, Temu. Recently, several users on social media have voiced their frustration over an odd issue with Temu's advertising email unsubscribe feature, which inaccurately displays a "No WiFi Connection" message.
Normally, advertising emails are required to include an unsubscribe button, allowing users to opt-out of receiving future advertisements. Temu's advertising emails offer this feature, but it's currently plagued with issues.
Users attempting to unsubscribe are redirected to the Temu website as expected, but are then met with a message instructing them to check their internet connection due to a supposed lack of network connectivity. Tests conducted by Landian.news revealed that this issue persists even when accessing the site through a wired PC connection.
Falling for this message and checking one's network settings is a mistake, as the user's internet connection is, in fact, functioning normally. The real issue lies with Temu, which either intentionally or mistakenly loads a JavaScript script resulting in an HTTP 424 error code. This error code indicates a failed dependency, preventing the requested operation from being executed.
The error occurs when the script file fails to connect to another API, triggering a pre-set "No Internet Connection" message. This means the issue isn't with the user's internet connectivity but rather a misleading error message pre-configured by Pinduoduo.
This situation is likely an oversight, yet Pinduoduo has not addressed the bug that hampers users' ability to unsubscribe properly. Consequently, without the ability to opt-out, users continue to receive unwanted advertising emails from Pinduoduo.
