Mozilla Firefox v129.0 Released: Enhanced HTTPS and New Tab Preview Feature
The open-source browser Mozilla Firefox has rolled out its official version v129.0 today, marking a significant update with several new features and improvements. These include using HTTPS encrypted connections by default, adding a tab preview feature, and enhancing the reader view, among others.
Firefox v129.0 Update Log:
- Reader View: The reader now features an enhanced text and layout menu, allowing users to adjust letter spacing, word spacing, and text alignment. These new features should help users create a more personalized reading experience.
- Reader View: A new theme menu has been added to the reader, offering additional contrast and grayscale options. Users can select custom colors for text, background, and links from the custom options tab.
- Tab Preview: Firefox has finally introduced a tab preview feature. Now, when the cursor hovers over a background tab, a webpage preview automatically appears, helping users quickly decide whether to switch to that page.
- Security Protocol: Firefox will now default to using the HTTPS protocol to access all websites. It will revert to the HTTP protocol only when HTTPS cannot be accessed, improving security for sites that support both HTTP/HTTPS access.
- DNS Security Resolution: On Windows 11, Linux, and Android 10+ versions, it is now possible to use the system DNS resolver to resolve HTTPS DNS records, previously requiring DoH activation.
- DNS Security Resolution: This feature allows the use of the HTTP/3 protocol without the need for an Alt-Svc header, upgrading requests to HTTPS when DNS records are present to enable broader use of ECH.
- macOS: Firefox for macOS has added support for using multiple languages in the same document with VoiceOver.
- Auto-fill: Starting with this version, Firefox has enabled address auto-fill functionality for users in France and Germany.
