iPhone 17 Series Predicted to Bring 120Hz ProMotion Display to Standard Models in 2025
Apple currently supports its 120Hz ProMotion display exclusively on the iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max series, and this trend is expected to continue with the upcoming iPhone 15 series launching this fall.
Surprisingly, even before the iPhone 15's release, supply chain sources are already making predictions for the iPhone 17, slated for a 2025 launch.
According to supply chain information, the iPhone 16 series, launching in 2024, will still only feature the 120Hz ProMotion high-refresh-rate screen on the Pro+ models. It is not until the release of the iPhone 17 series in 2025 that the standard models will also adopt high-refresh-rate displays.
The source of this information is DSCC, a firm specializing in display supply chain analysis. Ross Young from DSCC has previously shared numerous predictions about screens, and while not 100% accurate, his predictions have a certain degree of reliability.
This news may disappoint users planning to upgrade to a new iPhone next year, as both this year's iPhone 15 and next year's iPhone 16 standard models will feature regular displays. Those looking to enjoy a high-refresh-rate screen will either have to wait for the iPhone 17 or opt for the more expensive Pro+ models.
