All iPhone 16 Models Support the Latest WiFi 7/802.11be Standard and 2×2 MIMO
According to Apple's technical specifications, the newly launched iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max all support the latest WiFi standard: 802.11be.
Contrary to earlier rumors suggesting that Apple might only offer WiFi 7 support in the Pro+ models, with non-Pro models continuing to offer WiFi 6E support, Apple has surprisingly not limited the non-Pro models.
WiFi 7 supports the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands (the 6GHz band is not supported in some countries/regions), enabling faster transmission rates, lower latency, and more reliable connections.
In theory, WiFi 7 can achieve maximum download speeds of up to 40Gb/s. Therefore, the iPhone 16 series, supporting WiFi 7, is expected to have improved performance in terms of wireless network connections.
However, it's worth noting that not only does the phone need to support WiFi 7, but the router does too. Many users' wireless networks are provided by broadband ISPs through modem-router combos, most of which do not support WiFi 7.
Thus, to achieve better network speeds and connection quality, users may need to consider upgrading their broadband, switching to a router that supports WiFi 7, and using smartphones that support WiFi 7.
