Dynamic Island's New Use: Apple Adds Safari Download Progress to Dynamic Island in iOS 18.2 Beta
The primary function of the iPhone's Dynamic Island has been to display certain real-time notifications. As time passes, more applications are supporting Dynamic Island, making it increasingly useful.
In the iOS 18.2 Beta 2 version, Apple has introduced a new feature to Dynamic Island – specifically for Safari. Now, when a file is being downloaded, its progress is displayed on Dynamic Island.
For instance, when Safari is downloading a file, Dynamic Island shows the Safari icon along with the name of the file being downloaded. At the bottom, it displays the specific progress of the file download, and on the right, there's a circular download indicator.
While this might not be a groundbreaking feature, it certainly adds a new utility to Dynamic Island, especially for users who frequently download files using Safari.
If you've updated to iOS 18.2 Beta 2, you can test this feature by downloading a file with Safari. The official version of iOS 18.2 is set to be released in December, at which point users who install it will be able to enjoy these new features.
