"Black Myth: Wukong ''Faces Knockoff: Nintendo Lists 'Sun Wukong: The Black Legend' with Disappointing Graphics
Developed by Game Science, "Black Myth: Wukong" is undeniably one of this year's hottest games. As with most popular titles, it has not escaped being cloned.
This week, Nintendo launched a game titled "Wukong Sun: Black Legend," priced at $7.99, developed by Global Game Studio.
At first glance, the game's poster might lead players to believe it's a Nintendo Switch (NS) version of "Black Myth: Wukong" or a similar game for the NS platform. However, those who purchase it without looking closely will realize they've been duped.
The game is a mere imitation. Despite its exciting poster, it turns out to be a side-scrolling game with graphics that are:
So poorly made that Game Science might feel embarrassed even to discuss it with Nintendo, given the vast difference in quality compared to the original Black Myth: Wukong.
Such knockoff tactics are not new. Landian.news recalls seeing a beautifully presented "Avatar" mobile game after the movie's release, which required a $0.75 subscription via text message. After downloading it onto my Java phone, I discovered it was merely a simplistic shooting game, where the player controls an Avatar moving left and right to shoot at approaching aircraft. "Sun Wukong: The Black Legend" almost mirrors the same scam strategy seen back in 2009.
