NVIDIA Releases Version 475.14 Graphics Driver for Windows 7/8/8.1 to Fix Vulnerabilities
Today, NVIDIA released a new version of its graphics driver specifically for users still operating on Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 systems. It's important to note that these drivers do not introduce any new features but are instead focused on integrating security patches to address known vulnerabilities.
The newly released driver version is 475.14, which primarily supports NVIDIA’s Kepler architecture-based graphics cards, specifically the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680+ series.
In line with NVIDIA's previous commitments, the company has pledged to continue providing security updates at least until September 2024. This promise was made back in March 2021, and as that deadline approaches, it's worth noting that NVIDIA will no longer offer driver updates post-expiration unless users upgrade to Windows 10 or Windows 11.
Given that Microsoft has also ceased WHQL certification for Windows 7 drivers, these drivers are not WHQL certified. This could potentially lead to compatibility issues for users, which would necessitate testing after installation.
Furthermore, NVIDIA has stopped providing specific update logs for these drivers, so it's unclear which issues have been fixed. If possible, users are encouraged to upgrade to Windows 10 or newer versions for continued support and updates.
