0patch Announces Five Years of Security Support for Windows 10 at $27 per Device
Third-party cybersecurity firm 0patch is known for releasing security updates for Windows, targeting vulnerabilities either overlooked by Microsoft or those that Microsoft has yet to address. 0patch proactively deploys mitigation solutions to protect users.
The 0patch software, offered for free, becomes active upon installation. In the event of a security concern, 0patch delivers solutions via the cloud to fend off vulnerabilities.
Interestingly, the software's approach to fixing issues involves injecting small CPU instruction sets into memory. This method allows for quick, kernel-level responses to vulnerabilities or other types of attacks without modifying system binary files.
Given 0patch's long-standing availability and its substantial user base, this method of repair has proven effective, or else 0patch would have shifted to other methods of correction.
last Friday, 0patch announced it will provide up to five years of security update support for the Windows 10 system. This comes as a timely solution for when Microsoft ceases support for Windows 10 next year, ensuring users can receive timely patches through 0patch's proprietary methods.
However, this extended support is not free. Users are required to pay approximately €24.95 (about 27) for five years of updates, with no additional charges thereafter. For medium to large businesses, the cost is approximately €34.95 37) per device, a significant saving compared to the official Windows 10 ESU pricing of $61 per device per year.
0patch believes that many PCs, unable to meet the hardware requirements for Windows 11, will be left vulnerable once Microsoft ends support for Windows 10. For users not willing to invest in new PCs, continuing with Windows 10 becomes the only option, albeit with potential security risks.
Security updates from 0patch can extend the lifespan of these PCs, offering timely updates for users who prefer Windows 10 over Windows 11, ensuring their continued safe use.
Support will be provided for Windows 10 version 22H2 and above, with older versions ineligible for 0patch support. If five years prove insufficient, 0patch may extend support further based on market conditions.
