Microsoft Commits to Resolving Animation Lag and Frame Drops in Windows 11 24H2 Update
Many users have been hesitant to embrace Windows 11, citing numerous performance hiccups like lagging and frame drops. Common complaints include delayed response when right-clicking files on the desktop, with the context menu taking seconds to appear. Such lags, widespread across Windows 11, significantly degrade the user experience.
While some users initially report smoother operations upon first installing Windows 11, the performance issues, including stuttering and lagging, tend to become more pronounced over time. For gamers, these problems are particularly aggravating.
Feedback on the Microsoft official feedback center about poor task view previews and some animation effects, including freezing and stuttering, has been substantial. Microsoft has attempted to address these issues, initially implementing fixes in Windows 11 Build 26227 (Canary Channel).
Now, Microsoft engineers have indicated in responses to user feedback that fixes have also been applied in the Preview Channel's Windows 11 Build 26100.994 (corresponding update KB5039304), which are now available for the Windows 11 24H2 version.
According to Microsoft's support documents:
"This update resolves an issue believed to be the root cause behind some Windows Insider users recently experiencing certain animations stuttering or dropping frames. Currently, this update is available for Windows 11 24H2 version, though similar issues were also found in previous versions."
In addition to fixing the stuttering issues related to task view previews and the taskbar, Microsoft has also improved the performance of the Quick Settings interface (accessible by clicking the network icon on the taskbar, among others). Now, the Quick Settings should appear faster without the slow pop-up speed or animation issues present in previous versions.
Currently, we're using the Windows 11 23H2 version and is also plagued by stuttering issues. However, considering that the Windows 11 24H2 version is not yet officially released, Landian.news has not updated it for the time being.
The official release of Windows 11 24H2 is scheduled for October. Microsoft continues to test and address various issues reported by users, so LanDian.Net plans to update and evaluate the official version upon its release.
