Chinese Manufacturer Geekom to Launch the World's First Mini PC Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite Chip
Previously, Qualcomm had plans to launch a developer kit featuring the Qualcomm Snapdragon X series chips, but the initiative was canceled as the hardware did not meet expectations. Qualcomm has refunded all developers who had pre-ordered.
Now, Geekom, a hardware manufacturer from China, is set to launch the world's first mini PC equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chip. The specific configurations of this mini PC are not yet clear.
According to images posted by a Sina Weibo user @孤城 Hardware, this mini PC will come with at least two USB-A 3.0 ports and one 3.5mm headphone jack. Similar to other mini PCs, Geekom's device also includes a microSD card slot for connecting external storage cards.
There is no information about this device on Geekom's official website, so the image might be a leak. This mini PC resembles Geekom's previously launched Geekom A7, which is equipped with an AMD RYZEN 9 7940HS processor.
It's possible that Geekom has replaced the motherboard and chip of the Geekom A7 with the Qualcomm Snapdragon series, while keeping the other hardware and peripheral interfaces largely unchanged. However, the Snapdragon X Elite chip is significantly more power-efficient than the AMD 7940HS processor, which may lead to changes in the internal cooling structure and external power supply.
It's still unclear when Geekom plans to release this device, but it should be an attractive option for developers and enthusiasts. This is because it offers the opportunity to experience running Windows 11 and utilizing AI features on the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite, rather than purchasing a Copilot+PC laptop.
It's important to note that the X Elite series chips typically come with integrated memory, meaning users cannot upgrade the memory post-purchase. In terms of GPU performance, it is weaker compared to discrete GPUs on desktop platforms, making it less suitable for gaming purposes at the moment.
