Microsoft Releases Windows 11 24H2 Preview ISO Image Files for Upgrade Enthusiasts
Currently, the Windows 11 24H2 version is still in the testing phase, with an official release expected in October 2024. However, interested users now have the chance to upgrade to this version in advance.
Today, Microsoft has released the official ISO image of Windows 11 24H2 Build 26100.1150 for Windows Insider users. Those interested can use this image to upgrade their system, perform a fresh installation, or install it on a virtual machine for testing.
The Build 26100.1150 version integrates the routine security updates for July 2024 released by Microsoft this week, making it the latest version of the image file. Users won't need to install this month's security updates separately after installation.
The image is available for both x86 and Arm64 architectures. The x86 version is compatible with devices running Intel and AMD processors, while the Arm64 version is suitable for devices equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon processors and also for Apple's M series chip-equipped Mac series devices.
It's important to note that although these are preview version images, the installed systems still need to be activated normally to use. If there is no valid license key for activation, some features will be restricted, and activation pop-ups may frequently occur.
In addition to the regular ISO images, Microsoft has also created VHDX images suitable for Arm64 devices. Developers and professional users can directly download the VHDX image to import into a Hyper-V virtual machine, saving the installation and configuration process.
Due to technical issues, Microsoft will pause updates for other integrated development environment virtual machine evaluation images starting July 15. Existing images will expire on July 15, and the system will intermittently pop up expiration reminders and may not function properly.
